This was the final game in the group and by the time of the fixture both sides had already been eliminated. The Euro 96 finalists had qualified in style and were one of the favourites but were drawn into the 'Group of Death' alongside co-hosts Holland, eventual winners France and Euro 92 winners Denmark. The Czech's had looked like sealing a useful 0-0 draw against the Dutch but were denied in the last minute by a Frank de Boer penalty. There was very little between them and France also who battled to a 2-1 win secured by a Youri Djorkaeff strike. Berger had missed these two games but returned to the starting line-up here against Denmark as the side restored some pride and left the tournament with their heads held high with a 2-0 victory thanks to a Šmicer brace. Berger shot to fame as a hero of the side that reached the Final of Euro 96 which tempted Liverpool to pay Dortmund £3.25M for his services. The attacking midfielder went on to spend 7 years at Anfield and made 42 appearances with a superb record of 18 goals for the Czech Republic Click the banner to get it at ONLY: GBP499.99
