Hand crafted by local people overseas who reclaim Mango Hardwood from trees at the end of their useful fruit bearing existence so helping to reduce deforestation overseas. The carving is executed exactly and replicates the way Howdah’s are and have been used in far off places both historically and today. The resin finish and painted areas with textured carvings enhance the design really well and bring the table to life. Spalting occurs naturally in Mango Hardwood and it is this that gives the timber its two tone colouring. The crafts people are that talented they even manage to inject a sense of movement into the elephant carving that gives it lifelike appeal.
